Wheelchair accessibility
The 40+ year old wheel chair lift has been replaced with a new model that can carry up
to 1,000 pounds/454 kg. Handicapped access to St. James Hall has been significantly improved
and new access to the western portion of the main floor has been created.
This improvement has been made possible with financial assistance from The City of Vancouver,
Canada Western Bank, The Highbury Foundation, F.K. Morrow Foundation, The John Hardie Mitchell Foundation,
and The Hylcan Foundation, plus individual donors.
Colourstrings International Music School
A reputable approach to musicianship
instrumental teaching from Finland that has achieved spectacular
results internationally since 1970. Taught by professional
musicians who are also trained specialists in Colourstrings/Kodaly.
Music and movement program for children 3 months to 6 years. Classes
are taught by professional musicians that are certified music
educators. Colourstrings, which has been selected by the new
Vancouver Symphony Orchestra School of Music as their early
childhood music program, is an innovative "child-friendly" approach
to music education that incorporates Kodaly, Orff and Dalcroze
teaching and is recognized world-wide for its unique and remarkable
music curriculum.
A 12-Step program to take the pressure off
those with debt problems by providing support and assistance
with planning, organizing, and tracking personal expenses and
debt. Learn how to create wealth - not debt, by making money
work for you instead of creating stress and problems through
poor money management.
Dedicated to communicating positive methods
of training to dog owners in a safe, clean, stress-free, and
fun environment. Puppy socialization classes every Saturday
and obedience training 2 nights a week.
A long-time Vancouver institution that provides free entertainment
throughout the summer months at the famous Kitsilano Showboat. The
society provides an opportunity for amateur entertainers to showcase
their talents in front of an appreciative live audience. Showboat is
a must see destination situated in the outdoor Kitsilano Pool with
the mountains and ocean as it's back drop. For a great evening of
entertainment make Showboat part of your summer activities.

The Lord's Grace Church

St. James Japanese Preschool
Offering a program that is
carried out in Japanese and that includes play acting and
theater, arts and crafts, cooking, music, stories, field trips,
games, and learning about special cultural events and holidays.
This licensed preschool is led by traditionally trained Japanese
staff.

A non-profit swim club run by volunteer
parents and professional coaching staff. The vision of the
VPSC is: to provide boys and girls the best opportunity to
develop thoroughly their athletic abilities through competitive
swim training and team development in a supportive community.
Established in 1930, the Vancouver Youth Symphony Orchestra is
comprised of four orchestras: Debut, Junior, Intermediate, and
Senior. The VYSO's mission is to nurture and develop young musicians,
both artistically and as individuals through rehearsals, performances,
tours, and workshops; providing young musicians with the opportunity
to discover and realize their potential in a secure yet challenging
environment.
VYSO musicians proudly represent Vancouver locally,
nationally, and internationally and many VYSO alumni have gone on to
acclaimed musical careers across Canada, the US, and Europe.

What will you and your child find in a Music Together® class?
Rainbow coloured falling leaves, cows sitting in the old oak tree,
tyrannosaurus rex, shining stars, rockets to the moon and trains to
the
beach. Come dance and sing to happy village folk songs, Korean
lullabies,
Cuban rain forest songs, and much much more. You'll also find bells
of all
sorts, triangles, train whistles, shakers, rhythm sticks, kitchen
instruments, scarves, giant sheets to hide under and instruments
galore!
All this with a developmentally appropriate, research based curriculum
taught by a registered Music Together teacher. 45 minutes of PURE
FUN with
your child every week!
An advanced acting class for those who would like to learn how to
perform in front of public. Your child will be participating in the
play 'Narnia' on December 16th, 2011 in St. James Community Square.
Designed for kids 9+ years old, our acting classes will bring a huge
difference into your child's life. We teach speech technique, body
language, emotional intelligence, logical thinking and self esteem in
front of the audience. Your child will learn how to be admired while
having fun with theatre games.
