Location
& Access:
Located on the west side of Vancouver BC, on the corner of 10th
Avenue and Trutch Street (map), in Kitsilano. St. James Community
Square is a 20 minute bus ride from the city centre and 1 block
off a major east/west arterial route.
Public Transit:
1 block off the Broadway bus route. Private transportation: A bike
rack is located at the front of the building.
Parking:
Free parking is available in the lane behind the building. Additional
parking at the west end of the building, accessed off the lane, is
available after 6:00 p.m. Mondays to Fridays, and all day and
evening on weekends and statutory holidays.
Pay parking (evenings and weekends) is available in behind the
National Bank of Greece, between Broadway and 10th Avenue off Trutch
Street - just half a block from the front doors. Street parking
is available.
Wheel chair
accessibility:
There is a wheel chair ramp off the corner of
10th and Trutch. The ramp provides access to all of the lower floor
except St. James Day Care at the west end of the building, where
there are two steps down to the Day Care. There is a wheel chair
lift to St. James Hall on the raised main floor. The wheel
chair lift has a capacity of 350 lbs. or 160 kilos. Access
to some of the offices and the gymnasium on the main floor can only
be achieved by entering through St. James Hall and there are two
steps to go down (the main floor is not all on one level). Call
ahead to confirm wheel chair access arrangements.
